MBABANE - Capital city giants Mbabane Swallows seem divided over the news of their former physical trainer Siyabonga Bhembe.

Since reports by local media yesterday that Bhembe was set to put pen to paper with his former club over a three-year deal, Swallows seem to have not fully agreed on the matter. If the statement released by the club’s Marketing and Communications Manager Mancoba Mabuza yesterday afternoon is anything to by, then there is more than meets the eye here. “For the record, we are aware of behind-the-scenes lobbying and pushing of names for purposes of endorsement by Club management; but Siyabonga Bhembe is not a member of our technical bench and currently holds no position at Mbabane Swallows Football Club.

Contract

“As far as we know he is a former trainer at Swallows and we don’t have any contract with him whatsoever. Our supporters and general stakeholders know the Swallows way of doing things: we always make major announcements throughout either a press conference addressed by the club president (Arch-Bishop Bheki Lukhele) or a press release issued for publication by the media,” an excerpt from the statement read. Mabuza went on to say that they has a fully fledged technical bench headed by coach Christopher Ennin, with Musa Manyatsi as assistant coach.

“Max is the trainer at Swallows and we want to state that categorically clear and we mince no words in saying we don’t have a staff member by the name of Siyabonga Bhembe at the moment. Only the club president has the power to pronounce on such matters. People must stop undermining the powers of the President,” further read the statement. Meanwhile, Bhembe asked not to commit himself at this stage without denying nor affirming his imminent return to the club he achieved a lot with. Bhembe had recently said he would never be out of a job especially because his golden touch was clear for all to see during his time at Mbabane Highlanders and Denver Sundowns in the 2020/21 season. Links with Swallows were already there alongside several other clubs and one in Tanzania.
