MBABANE – Senior rugby national team Sizeze, forward Mlungisi ‘Hulk’ Dlamini has an ambition to see the sport develop in Eswatini.

According to Hulk, who is 32 years old, he wishes to see the rugby sport developing in the country just like in the neighbouring countries such as South Africa and Namibia. “I do see the sport grow immensely and one can hope for the up and coming generation to lead growth,” he said. He said that while he was too old now to impact the sport with any future dreams, he would still appreciate it if the government could add value to the sport like soccer. He further highlighted that he would like to play for the national team one last time, to help the young ones adapt before he calls it quits.

Meanwhile, the seasoned star earned his nickname, ‘Hulk’, in 2012 when he was playing for the national team against Lesotho in Maseru after an exceptional performance that showed his strength and power in the game. He was born on July 31, 1989 at Maseyisini, Nhlangano in the Shiselweni region. The former Manzini Rhinos and Titans Rugby Club player started playing professional rugby in 2011 when he first signed with KwaZulu/ Natal side PMB Warratas Rugby Club. Warratas was playing in the KZN premier rugby league and it was relegated in 2013. After the team was relegated to a lower league, the player fast returned to the country to join University side UNESWA Titans, where he played alongside Muzi ‘Swazi Beast’ Dludlu who is currently his teammate at Piet Retief Rugby Club in Mpumalanga. ‘Hulk’ has seven national team caps in his name, and started playing for Sizeze in 2012.
