MBABANE – There is a new sheriff in town.

After the resignation of Rueben ‘Rhoo’ Nxumalo as hub giants Manzini Wanderers Management Committee (MC) Chairman, Mlungisi Ndzinisa has been appointed on an acting basis. Ndzinisa, who was serving as the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the club, has already assumed the duties of chairman and he will continue to be the club’s spokesperson. Among Ndzinisa’s expected deliveries at the club is to see the team through the season with only three games remaining. Wanderers are due to play Manzini Sea Birds today at Mayaluka Stadium in their attempt to finish the season within the top four. Their last two fixtures are against Moneni Pirates in the Manzini derby and play rivals Mbabane Swallows in the last fixture of the season.

A source close to the matter confirmed yesterday that the directors and the MC appointed Ndzinisa to take the post on an acting basis until end of the season and then a way forward would be taken. “The MC and the directors met and Ndzinisa was elevated to the chairman position after his positive contribution to the team. The directors believe that he is the right man for the job given the departure of Nxumalo,” said the source. Ndzinisa confirmed yesterday, but said more information concerning the appointment could be directed to the directors. Wanderers have been financially struggling in the past two months as their players had to boycott training due to two months unpaid salaries.
