‘SWAZI BOLT’ LEADS AFRICANS TO SEMIS

MBABANE – He has proven to be among the top five best in 200m athletes in Africa – third best precisely.

That is Sibusiso ‘Swazi Bolt’ Matsenjwa, who was part of the six African athletes to make it to the semi-finals of the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020 in Japan. He joined the likes of South Africa’s Anaso Jobodwane, Shaun Maswanganyi, Clarence Munyai, Ghana’s sprinter Joseph Amoah and Nigeria’s Divine Oduduru.

The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) Athletics Club star clocked the best time from the heats over all the other five African athletes who competed in the semi-finals yesterday. He clocked 20:34 seconds while Joseph Amoah was second with a time of 20:35 seconds and Nigeria’s Divine Oduduru clocked 20:36 seconds. It was a bad day for South Africans as they failed to perform to their expectations, all stumbling in the semi-finals. They are Clarance Munyai, Anaso Jobodwane who were behind Matsenjwa while Shaun Maswanganyi finished ahead in the rankings.
