NOSMILO WINS MONTHLY MUG

MBABANE – “I have always wanted to win a mug.”

This was said by golfer Nosmilo Kgomo after winning the Eswatini Royal Insurance Corporation (ESRIC) Monthly Mug for July. The competition, which was played at the Mbabane Golf Course on Saturday, saw Kgomo carding a score of net 67 to beat a field of over 50 golfers. The Lobamba-based golfer also won the longest drive award in the ladies category while the longest drive in the males’ category was won by Ncamiso Ntshalintshali. “Finally now I can say ‘mission accomplished’ as I had dreamt of winning this mug. Now I am hoping to win other major tournaments and give the male gender a run for their money,” said Kgomo.

Professional golfer Meshack Zwane was the gross winner on a score of 72 gross. Coming second in the main category was junior golfer Mfundo Nxumalo while another junior golfer Siphesihle Mhlanga completed the top three brackets with net 70. Senzo Baartjies beat Cosmo Mthethwa for the fourth spot after carding a net score of 71 after a countback. Mthethwa came fifth with a net score of 71 after he lost to a countback to Baartjies. Shining in the novelties were Mbabane Golf Club Captain Kenneth Nkambule, Dumisa Gama and veteran golfer Sam ‘Style’ Richards, who won the nearest pin 8/17, 2/11 and 9/18 respectively. The results were released by the club captain, Nkambule, yesterday.
