BATTLE OF THE ‘BIRDS’ IN NHLANGANO FOR TOP SPOT

MBABANE – The battle of the top spot heats up as the action continues in week eight of the MTN Premier League.

Log leaders Young Buffaloes will visit underperforming Moneni Pirates at Mayaluka Stadium in a double header that will also feature Manzini Wanderers against bottom based Malanti Chiefs. Buffaloes maintained the top spot on Saturday when they beat Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows 2-0 while Moneni Pirates suffered their second defeat in a row when they lost 0-2 to Royal Leopard.

Title chasers Mbabane Swallows will square up with second positioned Manzini Sea Birds at King Sobhuza Stadium. Sea Birds are the surprise package of the league so far, placed second at the top while Swallows is behind on two points. The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE), through the Chief Operations Officer (COO), Pat Vilakati, released an amended fixture on Friday for week eight. All the eight fixtures will be played tomorrow in six different venues all over the country. The games are played behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the amended fixtures, Mbabane Highlanders will visit Mhlume Peacemakers at Tambankulu Stadium tomorrow starting at 3pm. A double header is billed for Mavuso Sports Centre where Milling Hot Spurs hosts Tinyosi while Denver Sundowns play Green Mamba at 3:30pm. Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows will host Tambuti at Killarney Sports Ground with Royal Leopard hosting Tambankulu Callies at Prince of Wales Sports Ground.
