MBABANE – Confederation of African football (CAF) President hopeful Dr Patrice Motsepe paid tribute to Eswatini Football Association (EFA) president Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa during the launch of his manifesto yesterday in Johannesburg.

Motsepe acknowledged the presence of Mthethwa among the other African football associations’ presidents who were part of the press conference, where he launched his 2021 CAF Presidential Manifesto.

The event held in Sandton Convention Centre Bill Gallagher Room, Johannesburg was aired live on Newzroom Afrika Channel 405 on DStv.

“I want to thank all those who came for this press conference in particular my brothers, the African football associations’ president here from Mozambique and I can see Bomber Mthethwa from eswatini,’’ Motsepe said briefly.

Reached for comment, an elated Mthethwa said he was delighted at the acknowledgement and wished Motsepe well in his endeavour to lead African football.

“He is more receptive to us emaSwati because he schooled in Eswatini and as COSAFA we have opted to back him as a group for his presidency like we did with Ahmad Ahmad,” Mthethwa said.

The Mamelodi Sundowns billionaire owner then unveiled his ten-point manifesto for the CAF presidency during the press briefing.

Prior to unveiling his plans for African football, should he be elected as the successor to Ahmad Ahmad, he debunked claims that he would relocate the CAF headquarters from Cairo to Johannesburg and revealed his dream to unite Africa through sport.

Motsepe will be running against Jacques Anouma of Ivory Coast‚ Augustin Senghor of Senegal and Mauritanian Ahmed Yahya for the CAF presidency on the March 12 elective conference in Rabat‚ Morocco.
