MBABANE – The recent heavy rains experienced in the kingdom in the past weeks have left a trail of destruction.

Manzini Wanderers’ midfielder Njabulo Magongo was not spared as his house said to be located at Msunduza area in Mbabane was crushed by a boulder. According to sources close to the matter, the boulder caused serious damage after it tumbled down a nearby hill as a result of the recent Cyclone Eloise and moderate tropical storm Guambe. “The player reported the matter to the team but it appeared as if management was a bit reluctant in assisting him and he ended up asking for help from the team’s supporters,” confided a source. Sources claimed that the matter had been discussed by supporters through their WhatsApp group and ways through which donations were to be made in order to assist the player were suggested. The player was drawn for comment and said he was at the time busy with other personal matters and could therefore not comment.

The maroon and white outfit Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mlungisi ‘Mluga’ Ndzinisa was also reached and confirmed that the player reported the incident. He, however, gave a different version on management’s willingness in as far as assisting the player after the sad incident was concerned. “It is true that we received the report that Njabulo’s house was severely damaged due to the recent heavy rains. We asked the Management Committee (MC) Chairman Rueben ‘Rhoo’ Nxumalo to pay him a visit at his parental home to assess the damage,” said Ndzinisa. The ‘Weslians’ spokesperson added that management has forwarded the player’s request and matter to their South African directors.

“We have alerted our South African directors that one of our players had been affected by the recent heavy rains,” said the PRO. Ndzinisa also highlighted that apart from the team’s chairman paying the player a visit at his parental home to assess the situation, they had also reported to their supporters for those who may wish to assist any way they could. The PRO further mentioned that they were currently waiting for a response from their South African directors.
