MBABANE – He was a big man with big plans.

The sad loss of Manzini Wanderers Director Thembumenzi ‘T-man’ Mkhatshwa came at a time when he was just implementing his big plans for the team. During his funeral on Saturday morning at Mahwalala Cemetery, the deceased’s big plan for the maroon and white outfit was revealed – dominance for the next six seasons. Speaking on behalf of ‘T-man’s friends, long-serving Public Relations Officer (PRO) Vuyile Dlamini revealed the deceased’s big plan for Wanderers which he challenged elders not to deviate from. “For the next six seasons, Wanderers will be the talking point. I urge elders to maintain the strong team ‘T-man’ had just assembled,” said the former PRO.

The former ‘Weslians’ spokesperson referred to the newly assembled Wanderers team as ‘poison’ that ‘T-man’ has formed. “I want to urge Nkumane (Joe, the Chairman of the Council of Elders) that they maintain the team ‘T-man’ had built,” he said. Dlamini vowed while addressing mourners that should elders fail to do as he had commanded, he will personally deal with them. Noteworthy is that ‘T-man’ assembled a strong team that recently surprised all by beating Mbabane Swallows 2-1 during an MTN Premier League fixture at Mavuso Sports Centre.

He was also instrumental in assisting the club enlist the services of their current director based in Nelspruit, South Africa. He was overseeing the day-to-day running of the club as he enjoyed a good working relationship with the South African based director. Further, the former PRO disclosed that there was a time when he and the deceased served at Wanderers and there was a plot to dismiss them. “There was a time when some of Wanderers officials did not want us at the team anymore simply because we stood for the truth,” he said. The deceased’s friend added that they stood for peace and the truth and promised ‘T-man’s family that as friends to the late director, they will ensure their deceased friend’s children’s welfare was taken care of. He further thanked the family for giving them a true friend who became a brother. Dlamini described the deceased as a good person whom they all relied on and in him confided with their secrets.

Meanwhile, all COVID-19 protocols were observed during the funeral which included sanitising, washing of hands, wearing of face masks and social distancing. Also present to pay their last respects were Wanderers director Sandile ‘Chief’ Dlamini, Management Committee (MC) Chairman Rueben ‘Rhoo’ Nxumalo and former player Thami ‘Cheeseboy’ Mofoekeng among others.
