MBABANE – The Eswatini teenage footballer, Sachin de Silva, has impressed at La Liga relegated side Malaga FC.

The former Waterford student, who was part of England’s Bracknell Town FC international academy and was scouted by Malaga FC in Spain, has already started training with the team.
Silver was invited by the Spanish team for a six-month assessment as of January and would be assessed in the next few months for a possible inclusion in their senior squad for the upcoming season. If he continues to impress, Malaga are expected to offer him a good deal. In video clips shared by Silva’s agent Coach, George Kawa, the player is seen scoring a great goal during training and joined by teammates in celebration.

Sachin played for Inter Stars FC campaigning in the Hhohho promotion and he had been supported by Kawa, who also facilitated the Bracknell Town FC academy move. The former Inter Stars jersey number 10, will be the first liSwati to play for a Spanish team if his deal eventually materialises. Meanwhile, the coach is the same agent who facilitated former Manzini Wanderers player, Djembe Ekwe Willie Alfred’s overseas deal, who was recently voted best foreign player with Russian second division side Dinamo Cyxym. On his Malaga half a year assessment, Silva said he wanted to publicise the deal for two major reasons and was quoted, “Firstly, to inspire those who have dreams of pursuing football as a career and encourage them to go for it. I am still very young and inexperienced, but this opportunity that I have been given is a chance to show the world my talent and passion for the sport as well as grow as a person altogether,” he said.

He added that he believed that these were the kind of opportunities aspirant footballers were to grab with both hands. “Secondly, I want to show the world that this small country in Southern Africa, Eswatini, had unbelievably talented players who should be given the chance to grow themselves elsewhere. I want football in the country as a whole to grow in professionalism,” he said. The player also stated that he wanted to be a catalyst to inspire and aid players to go abroad and follow their dreams.
