MALAGA FC’S 6 MONTHS ASSESSMENT OF LISWATI

MBABANE – A liSwati teenage footballer might soon be joining La Liga relegated side Malaga FC.

The 19-year-old, Sachin de Silver, has been invited by the Spanish team for a six-month assessment as of January. The former Waterford student was part of England’s Bracknell Town FC international academy and was scouted by Malaga FC in Spain. Sachin played for Inter Stars FC campaigning in the Hhohho promotion league and he had been supported by his coach, George Kawa, who also facilitated the Bracknell Town FC academy move. The coach was drawn for comment and confirmed the news.

Spending

“Sachin would be spending the next six months with Malaga FC for a possible assessment and inclusion in their senior squad for the upcoming season,” said Kawa. Sachin was also reached and he confirmed the news, further stating that he wished this moved could be publicised in local media for two major reasons. “Firstly, to inspire those who have dreams of pursuing football as a career and encourage them to go for it. I am still very young and inexperienced but this opportunity that I have been given is a chance to show the world my talent and passion for the sport as well as grow as a person altogether,” he said. He added that he believed that these were the kind of opportunities aspirant footballers were to grab with both hands.

Gifted

“Secondly, I want to show the world that this little country in Southern Africa, Eswatini, had unbelievably gifted players who should be given the chance to grow themselves elsewhere. I want football in the country as a whole to grow in professionalism,” he said. The player also stated that he wanted to be a catalyst to inspire and aid players to go abroad and follow their dreams. The attacking midfielder was due to leave at the end of this month and his coach had highlighted that they hoped his trip was not postponed due to the COVID-19 situation.
