MBABANE – “I have just contacted TS Galaxy and they have informed me that they have big plans for Justice ‘Figa’ Figuareido for the new season.”

These were the words of Denver Sundowns boss and the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Chairman, Mark Carmichael, who handles most of ‘Figa’s transfer deals. Carmichael made these comments following rumours that the player might be soon joining hub giants Manzini Wanderers as they had allegedly approached the DStv Premiership outfit for the services of the player. “TS Galaxy management has just told me that the reason he had not featured in opening games of the league was because he was recovering from a knee injury and he will soon be playing for the team,” said the PLE chairman.

Negotiating

Wanderers were reportedly negotiating a deal with South Africa DStv Premiership side to sign the Eswatini international. News making rounds were that the former Maritzburg United forward was already in the country as the deal was reportedly in its final stages though the nature of the deal could not immediately be ascertained as details were scanty. ‘Figa’, alongside another Eswatini international, Felix Badenhorst joined TS Galaxy from Mbombela United which was relegated to the ABC Motsepe League after they were docked 23 points by the South African Football Association (SAFA) for allegedly being found guilty of fielding a double-registered player in Mbabane Highlanders’ striker, Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa, who was also slapped with a two-year ban in football but has since been lifted as he has featured in Highlanders’ games for the new season. TS Galaxy was campaigning in the GladAfrica Championship last season but now competes in the DStv Premiership after they purchased the status of Highlands Park.

Wanderers’ Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mlungisi ‘Mluga’ Ndzinisa was also reached for comment and neither confirmed  nor denied the link with the player. “As we have said before, our South African partners have promised us quality players from that country. However, we might not be privy to the names for now and we cannot disclose further details for now,” said the ‘Weslians’ spokesperson. He added that they were currently in a team-building process and they were closely monitoring the players they currently had at their camp and assessing if they needed to make more additions to beef-up the squad and which department actually required to be boosted.
