MBABANE – Callies Happy Girls defender Noxolo Dlamini is fighting for her life at the Mbabane Government Hospital after being involved in a car accident.

The accident occured on Sunday morning at Madzanga in Nkambeni area located in the Lowveld. According to the team’s Chairman and former Director Joster Mathonsi, Dlamini sustained severe head injuries when the driver of the car she was travelling in veered off the road and overturned.

“She attended training on Saturday. Her grandmother called on Sunday informing me that she was rushing to Dvokolwako Hospital, where Noxolo was admitted after being involved in an accident,” said Mathonsi.

Dlamin’s grandmother, who preferred to be identified as Gogo Ndwandwe, said she was shocked when she informed that Dlamini had been admitted to Dvokolwako Hospital by midday on Sunday, before she was transferred to Mbabane Government Hospital.

“I do not have much details of how the accident happened. Noxolo went to church early that morning and I was told that she was in the accident on her way back home. She was badly injured and we trust that God will save her,” said Ndwandwe.

Callies Happy Girls Public Relations Officer (PRO) Nomfundo Nhlengetfwa confirmed the reports on behalf of the team.

“It is true that one of our players was involved in an accident. Her grandmother informed us on Sunday and we visited her in hospital yesterday. She is in a bad state. We pray for her quick recovery because she is an asset to the team and we will support her in every step of the way,” said Nhlengetfwa.

Dlamini is one of the first players to be registered by the team that started competing in the Eswatini Women Football League in the past three seasons. Callies Happy Girls were known as Madelezini Happy Girls before they officially assumed the new name in October under the leadership of the new Director S’thembiso ‘Ngudze’ Mamba, who is also Chairman of Premier League rookies Tambankulu Callies.
