MBABANE – Capital city giants Mbabane Swallows are intensifying their preseason training as they have played two friendly games already.

Last Saturday, the red and white giants played with Mhlume Peacemakers where they won 4-2 and on Thursday, they faced National First Division side Vovovo, emerging 2-0 victors. Both games were played at Nsukuwansuku stadium in Mhlume.

Based on the pictures posted on the social media in Swallows FC official pages, almost all the new signings were present during the friendly games.

These include the likes of Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze, Nhlanhla ‘Jive’ Nkosi and Njabulo ‘D4D’ Ndlovu among others.

When reached for comment, Mbabane Swallows Communications and Marketing Manager Mancoba Mabuza, confirmed that they did train with the two opponents.

invite

“We are in full camp and training. We are not playing friendly games, but we are inviting clubs to train with us,” he said.

However, reports are suggesting that some key players are missing from the team’s camp as they did not feature on the practice matches.

Some of these include mid-fielders Richard Mcreesh and Leon Manyisa.

The latter confirmed with this publication that he would have to finish schools examination before he fully focuses on training.

futile

Efforts to get comment from Mccreesh were futile when called yesterday, as his mobile phone rang unanswered despite being called several times.

On the other hand, Mabuza declined to entertain questions on the issue of the players in question.

precedence

“We won’t get into individual players. It would be wrong precedence to start answering such a question,” he said.

Meanwhile, Peacemakers PRO Bheka Magagula, also confirmed the friendly game saying it helped them to prepare for the season.

“We are assessing our new players. They are not big name players, but what I can tell you is that they are talented. They just need to be groomed. I believe when the season starts, we will be ready,” said Magagula.

Vovovo’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Stan Dlamini said the game was not about the result but to ready themselves for the new season resumption.
