LOBAMBA – The future is bright. The Eswatini National Netball Association (ENNA) has recorded a surplus of E160 745 in the year ended March 31, 2020.

This was revealed by the association’s treasurer, Edgar Du-Pont, during their annual general meeting (AGM) held at OlympAfrica Centre at Lobamba yesterday.

The financial statements are from March 2019 to March 2020.

The surplus shows an increase compared to the previous financial year as it stood at E73 820.

The improved records were brought about by the fact that the SBS Netball League has not been completed yet.

It was stalled in March due to COVID-19 spread and games have not resumed yet but the meeting resolved that the league, which was left with two games to finish, would resume when government lifts the ban on netball.

A lump sum of this surplus would be utilised during prize presentation.

The surplus is from an income of E288 524. In the previous financial year, the association had an income of E30 370.

The improved income in the financial year ended March 2020 was brought about by sponsorship fees which contributed E238 280.

Despite debatable abnormalities, the meeting adopted the financials. Teams wanted to know how the money for fines was utilised in the association.

Manzini Ladies’ Director and national team head coach Nhlanhla ‘Friction’ Mayisela wanted to know if ENNA will compensate the national team as they were sometimes forced to use personal finances when preparing for a tournament outside the country.

The meeting, after a motion by Mayisela, resolved that teams should have bank accounts from the main sponsor, Swaziland Building Society (SBS).

The President, Smangele Motsa, promised that they would compensate the national team and further stated that they were waiting for the season’s report as it has not been completed yet.
