MBABANE – Former Moneni Pirates midfielder Nhlanhla ‘Jive’ Nkosi’s dream of playing in the money-spinning DStv Premiership remains alive – Baroka FC want him back in January.

After spending nearly two weeks of trials with the Limpopo side from Ga-Mphahle near Polokwane, Nkosi’s agent, Dingane Maduma, said yesterday that the trial was over and the player was expected back home today.

“He was told to come back in January. They need to free one space for foreigners. The technical team report is that they preferred a striker to fill the fifth slot and he’s from Sierra Leone,” Maduma explained.

Impressed

Questioned if his (Jive) return in January meant that he impressed, Maduma said ‘that’s why they definitely want him back, he did’. He said he would already be home but before travelling back into the country, he has to take the COVID-19 test. Efforts to get hold of the player hit a snag as he was unavailable on the network and had not responded to WhatsApp texts sent to him when sought.

His return to the country is good news for his new club, Mbabane Swallows, who signed him before he departed for the South African trials with Baroka FC who play in the DStv Premiership. There was also no immediate comment from Baroka while Swallows said they expected to get feedback later yesterday.
