MBABANE – Former Sihlangu coach Kostadin Papic still believes in the team.

The nation’s pride will take on Congo Brazzaville on November 12 away and the return match will be at Mavuso Sports Centre on November 16.

The two sides will clash for their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers campaign in a group that consists of Senegal and Guinea-Bissau.

The Dominic Kunene-led side is currently in camp, at the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Technical Centre, Lobamba in preparation for these games.

Despite the fact that Sihlangu has been out of action for quite some time due to the spread of COVID-19, the Serbian strategist believes the team has what it takes to conquer against Brazzaville.

The former Orlando Pirates coach made this analysis based on the team performance ahead of his departure before the appointment of Kunene. “Yes I believe it is very much possible for the team to win against Congo Brazzaville,” said Papic briefly.

Meanwhile, due to the COVID-19 pandemic that devastated the world, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) was compelled to postpone AFCON qualifiers scheduled for March 2020 until further notice.

FIFA had recommended that all June 2020 international matches be postponed and also postponed the September 2020 window for CAF.

On June 30, CAF announced that the 2021 AFCON final tournament had been postponed from January 2021 to January 2022, without announcing the new dates of the remaining qualifiers. On August 19, 2020, CAF announced the new dates of the remaining qualifiers, with matches three and four rescheduled to be played between November 9 and 17, 2020 and matches five and six rescheduled to be played between March 22 and 30, 2021.

Eswatini in Group I is at the bottom of the log with zero points after two games. The national team first lost 0-3 away in Guinea-Bissau on November 13, 2019 before suffering a 1-4 setback against Senegal at Mavuso Sports Centre on November 17, 2019.
