MBABANE – All members of the outgoing Eswatini National Volleyball Association (ENVA) Executive Committee have been nominated but the Vice President Phinda Dlamini.

ENVA is going to the polls next weekend, November 1 at OlympAfrica Hall at Lobamba. The nominations submission deadline was on Tuesday and clubs submitted their candidates for all available positions. Dlamini is conspicuously not on the list while the rest of the members he is serving with now are all nominated, including President Mpendulo Dlamini who runs Zakhele Volleyball Clubs (male and ladies). Outgoing Secretary Nonophile ‘Afi’ Dlamini released the nominations yesterday through a press release.

Absence

“Herewith below are categories and corresponding candidates nominated by the teams,” reads the release by Dlamini before the names were listed. ‘‘However, before the nominated candidates list, she was questioned about Dlamini’s absence and if she thought their nomination could mean clubs still had confidence in them. “I don’t know but I also know teams were calling people before they nominated them to ask if they still stand. Some of us had said no but teams did put our names up nonetheless,” she responded. Afi said it was probably because the clubs believed in them that they got nominated even when some had declined. Also worth noting is that the president’s position has top candidates, the outgoing Mpendulo and Correctional Sunrise top coach Mbuso Vilakati. Other names that are in the running are Sabatha Maseko and Jabu Mzizi.
