EZULWINI – Golden moments relived.

Eswatini international and South Africa’s GladAfrica Championship side Mbombela United’s Captain and forward, Felix Badenhorst, was yesterday honoured on COSAFA’s Twitter account for his sterling performance. This was for his performance in the 2016 COSAFA Cup in Namibia, where he netted five goals, won the golden boot and a man of the match award. “Badenhorst is among the joint-record eight he has in total in the competition. Here are all his goals from four years ago in #Namibia!” reads the tweet on top of the video with the forward’s goals in senior national team colours, Sihlangu Semnikati.

The squad finished third in the tournament with now Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Minister Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga as the head coach. Felix scored against Zimbabwe (two), Seychelles (two) and Madagascar (one).

Playoff

Eswatini beat Zimbabwe in the third-place playoff which Eswatini won by a lone goal after losing 1-5 to South Africa in the semis. Badenhorst has a total eight goals in the tournament and could add to his tally in October as the regional and annual tournament is expected to resume in South Africa, who are already playing football again amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
