MEET TALENTED MKHONTFO FOUR-SOME

MBABANE – Football runs in their blood. At the mentioning of the surname, Mkhontfo, three brothers come to mind. These are Green Mamba’s trio who continue to leave a mark in the local Premier League with their God-given talent.
These are Mthunzi ‘Xavi’, Mxolisi and Khethokuhle who all play for the reigning MTN Premier League and Ingwenyama Cup kings.

These three brothers have played a pivotal role in aiding Caleb Ngwenya’s side win gold medals in the past two seasons.
However, there is now an emerging star in the family by the name of Philani.
He plays for Swazi Trac Super League side Shooting Stars.
‘Pilato’, as he is affectionately known in the soccer circles, is seemingly the next big star in the making.

Scoring

This is after he became a household name in the Ingwenyama Cup, scoring 14 goals in all competitions including the league, EswatiniBank and Ingwenyama Cup.
The 24-year-old striker has now attracted interest from the country’s big teams and Manzini Wanderers are reportedly in talks with the ‘new kid on the block’ in a bid to convince him to sign on the dotted line. Mbabane Highlanders are also said to be after the signature of the Shooting Stars striker.

Shooting Stars Manager Mfanafuthi Mkhonfto confirmed that Highlanders and Wanderers have approached the team for the signature of the player. The player also confirmed the interest from the two soccer giants.
“I am humbled to be approached by these two teams but I will let those in authority handle the talks. Mine is to focus and when the opportunity comes I will utilise it with both hands,” said the youngest brother of the Mkhontfo family.
He credited the football talent in the family to their father.

Heydays

“My father used to be a football player in his heydays. I guess we take it from him,” he said.
Meanwhile, his elder brother Mxolisi, concurred with his brother but stated that commitment, discipline and hard work also play a major role in their top form.
