MBABANE – Mbombela United local stars will not be deterred by failure to join their teammates in South Africa ahead of the resumption of the GladAfrica Championships.

Assistant Coach Siyabonga Bhembe said they would have to change their training programme, now that they will be going back to full training and planning for games.

The five players and the assistant coach have so far been denied entry into South Africa due to the lockdown regulations, while games are set to resume in South Africa this weekend.

Confirmed

Bhembe confirmed yesterday that they were frustrated by the situation but they would have to remain positive.
He said he would be giving the players a new training programme that would enable them to be ready for action once they joined the club.
The players, who are currently in the country, are Felix Badenhorst, Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze, Njabulo ‘D4D’ Ndlovu, Justice Figuareido and Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa.

He said despite that they were still in the country, they would continue working hard. “We are doing all our best to stay positive under the circumstances, even though it is not easy for the players.

“We have tried our best to find our way back to South Africa, but failed and now we have to work with what we have.  We are going to change our training programme and try to stay ready for playing any day now as we still hope that we will find our way back to the team,” he said.
Mbombela United have a mountain to climb when action resumes because they are battling to avoid the axe in the GladAfrica Championships.
