EZULWINI – The nation certainly misses football - It’s the most loved sport globally after all.
The country has not had any football action since March 13 this year, when the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) following consultations with government, suspended football countrywide due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

However, the break will certainly come to an end sooner or later, as indicated by Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Minister, Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga, yesterday. Bulunga, in his brief address in the Ingwenyama Cup 2019/20 prize-giving at Happy Valley Hotel, gave hope for the return of football and all sports in the near future. It is now nearly four months since football was suspended indefinitely on March 13 – just a week after the Ingwenyama Cup final between runners-up Mbabane Highlanders and eventual champions Green Mamba.

“We’re grateful to football and sports for being the first to respond in the emergence of COVID-19 in the country. We know as a ministry it wasn’t easy but you responded positively to assist the government.

Safe

“Football will return but it must return once the environment is safe. For now, let’s be patient. We all love football and sports,” he said.
Minister Bulunga encouraged the nation to continue adhering to the COVID-19 regulations to avoid contracting the virus. He, along with Prince Hlangabeza, who is the Ingwenyama Cup Committees Chairman, presented the fifth edition winners their prizes in both culture and football.
