MBABANE – As Mbabane Swallows adds new feathers on its wings, it is shedding old ones in equal measure.

In a week when the red and white glamour side sensationally unveiled starlet Leon Manyisa as their new signing, club president Bishop Bheki Lukhele yesterday appointed a new-look nine men interim Management Committee (MC) to lead the team going forward.

The club’s current Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) governor, Andreas Lukhele, will lead the new MC which saw newcomers in Thulani ‘Kabas’ Lukhele, George Khumalo, Party Bhiya joining veterans Sandile ‘Beyond 2000’ Zwane, Banele Cindzi, Veli Malinga, Richard Phungwayo and Communications and Marketing Manager, Mancoba Mabuza. The Committee was appointed after a short-as-a-sneeze meeting yesterday.

Exiting the MC were the likes of Abraham ‘AB’ Dlamini, who held the position of MC Chairman, members, Khaya Vilakati, Sandile Dlamini, Mondli Nxumalo and Welile Mabuza.

An informed source stated that the club president did not want to upset the apple-cart when he took over as he found the MC in place but he felt it was now the right time to have his own people in charge.
“He understood and appreciated that the people in the MC were Swallows people and respected that the Elders had put them in place but it was time he had his own people as well. He has thanked the outgoing members for the in-put they made towards the smooth running of the team,” the source said.

Lukhele, in an interview, stated that he was grateful for the opportunity to have worked with such a dedicated group of officials.
“The MC has continued to serve Mbabane Swallows FC with commitment, as club president, I thank them from the bottom of my heart and I wanted to do this in the presence of everyone, including the chairman of the Elders. I am not here to fire or remove people from Mbabane Swallows; the former MC members will continue to be members of the Mbabane Swallows Family and we will consult them from time to time,” Lukhele said.

Echoing Lukhele’s words, the club’s Communications and Marketing Manager, Mancoba Mabuza, when reached for comment late last night confirmed the changes in the Management Committee.

“Yes, I can confirm that the club president has just announced a decision to rest the MC and replace them with an interim committee. He emphasised that he was not removing them from the Swallows family and this must not be interpreted to mean someone has been fired, the president found this MC when he took over last year and mentioned at the time that he was not there to remove people,” Mabuza said.

The Chairman of the Elders Council Absalom Ngwenya thanked the club president for his great leadership skills and for serving the club with unmatched passion.
“We also thank the former MC members for their loyalty and let us continue to work together as a family and support the new interim committee that has been announced by the club president,” Ngwenya said.
