FINES TO BE DEDUCTED FROM INGWENYAMA CUP PRIZE MONEY

MBABANE – Four of the Premier League teams will now be haunted by their fans’ misconduct during the Ingwenyama Cup.
These are the quartet of runners-up Mbabane Highlanders, Young Buffaloes, Manzini Wanderers and Tambankulu Callies. This comes after the fines imposed by the Disciplinary Committee (DC).


The team to suffer the most is Young Buffaloes, as they will have to pay the money from their own pockets.
The army side will be getting nothing from the Ingwenyama Cup prize money presentation this week as they were booted out in the last 16 by the eventual champions, Green Mamba.


Runners-up Mbabane Highlanders will see a sum of E8 500 deducted from their initial E530 000 prize, while Manzini Wanderers will receive E65 000 instead of the E75 000 for being quarter-finalists. The maroon and white outfit were fined E10 000 by the DC for misconduct.
National First Division League side Tambankulu Callies, who were the tournament surprise package winners, will see E8 500 deducted from their E235 000 package. Callies is set to be awarded E200 000 for being semi-finalists, E30 000 for being the best finishers from the National First Division League and E5 000 participation fee.


Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Chief Operations Officer (COO) Pat Vilakati confirmed that all teams owing the organisation would see those fees deducted from their prize monies in tournaments.


Green Mamba are set to receive the E1.4 million first prize cheque after beating Mbabane Highlanders 2-0 in front of His Majesty King Mswati III and a crowd of over 12 000 people.
