MBABANE – Mbabane Highlanders’ boss Ally Kgomongwe has set the record straight regarding their interest on most wanted player at the moment, Leon Manyisa.

This follows the stance by Vovovo’s Director Sipho ‘Tsetla’ Bhembe that the teams interested in the player, including Highlanders, must forget about signing him as he will go back to his parent club, Vovovo FC.

Kgomongwe has since come out to voice his sentiments regarding Highlanders’ reported interest in the talented mid-fielder, making it clear that his team will no longer be pursing the player.

“Look, we are no longer interested in this player. There are good players that we are going to sign before the start of the 2020/21 season. Highlanders is a big team and we cannot force matters signing a player if his team is not willing to release him,” said Kgomongwe.

The big three in Highlanders, Mbabane Swallows and Manzini Wanderers were reported to be interested in the former FC Van player. The ‘Black Bull’ were said to have tabled a E65 000 offer while Swallows were prepared to pay E70 000 with Wanderers believed to have tabled an improved offer of E85 000.
Denver Sundowns were also reported to be after the signature of the player but withdrew after learning that the big three had made huge offers for the skilful player.

Manyisa’s football career seemed to be taking off when he signed for Armenia’s FC Van last year in September but saw his dream tumble when his contract was terminated a month later.

Things  got worse when he returned home to play for Wanderers only to be put on ice by the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Disciplinary Committee in November last year as he was deemed not eligible to play as he was attached to FC Van at that time.

It has been almost a year since Manyisa last played competitive football. He could not be reached for comment at the time of compiling this report yesterday.
