MBABANE – It certainly came as good news to the country’s international soccer players that South African football will be resuming shortly.

However, as much as Mbombela United stars Justice Figareido and his captain, Felix Badenhorst are ready to return to the field of play, they face the 14-day quarantine upon entering South Africa to ensure they are free from the virus before joining up with the rest of their teammates.

Speaking to both of them yesterday about the news of the South African Government allowing the Premier Soccer League (PSL) to go ahead with its remaining soccer games, it came out that they missed the game and cannot wait to return.

“I feel so good, relieved and happy that we’re going to be playing football again. We’ve been waiting for too long, we just want to play. Yes, our safety is very important and we have families so it does matter. We’ve heard nothing yet from the club but it’s nice to know that we are just waiting for phone calls.
“I just wish that now that it’s official we’re going back, our team recalls us now so we can get done with the 14-day quarantine.
“We have to do it but I so miss playing. I pray we get those phone calls soonest otherwise it’s been frustrating enough being at home for so long when even the individual training is not so easy, it’s different,” Figuareido said.

His captain at Mbombela United, Badenhorst, was also excited about the return to action of South African football.
“It’s great news to us because it means we are going to be back playing soon. We haven’t got anything from the teams yet but I am sure soon we will be going back.

“As for the quarantine, I am not sure about it but everything that we will do will be guided by our club and the PSL.
“We will just follow what we are told to do,” Badenhorst responded.
He further said: ‘above all, it really feels great’ to hear that football will soon be back while also adding that ‘hopefully here at home the football authorities will find solutions as well’.

Other internationals at Mbombela are striker Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa, midfielders Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze and Njabulo ‘D4D’ Ndlovu along with assistant coaches Siyabonga Bhembe and Dennis ‘Yuki’ Masina.
