MBABANE – The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) has banned the Board of Governors (BoGs) from sharing information with the media.

In a statement released by the PLE, the association strongly warns not just governors but all their affiliates against information dissemination concerning the organisation officials and its business.
“The Executive Committee of the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) hereby reminds all PLE affiliates that the only authorised office to disseminate information concerning officials and business of the PLE is the General Secretariat,” reads the statement in part.
The communiqué continues to state that the sharing of private and confidential discussions by and between the affiliates of the PLE with regard to official business to third parties including the media was unacceptable and/or unethical.

“Further, the PLE Board of Governors (BOG’s) are bound by the Code of Ethics to maintain strict confidentiality and a high level of loyalty,” reads the statement.
It further highlights that BOGs were reminded that any comments they made or interviews they held individually should be in consideration of the image of the PLE and also be mindful that the message they sent to the public upholds the values of the PLE and all its stakeholders.

“Further, privileged and confidential documents that are obtained during the course of the business of the PLE should be safeguarded,” the statement read in part.
PLE Chief Operations Officer (COO) Pat Vilakati and Chairman Peter ‘Touch’ Magagula could not be drawn for comment as their mobile phones rang unanswered when called several times yesterday.
