MBABANE – Their contracts have elapsed at Mbabane Swallows. That is goal poacher Sandile Hlatshwako and goalkeeper Sandile ‘Nkomishi’ Ginindza whose contracts came to an end as of today.

This means the three-time Ingwenyama Cup champions will remain with a depleted squad following news that the trio of their expatriate players in South Africa’s Vusumuzi Zungu, Paito Dube and Siphamandla Dhlamini are also out of contracts as of today.
Swallows reportedly will not renew the foreign trio’s contracts after reviewing their performance and team contribution in the 2019/20 season.

According to informed sources at the ‘Beautiful Birds’, the team will have to renegotiate new terms with the local players if they intend to keep them ahead of the new season.

However, the players are expected feature for the capital giants when football games resume after FIFA approved plans to extend player contracts and move transfer windows to allow seasons on hold due to coronavirus to be completed.

A set of new guidelines was endorsed by the FIFA bureau, a slimmed-down version of its decision-making council in April. These included the recommendation that players’ expiring contracts can be extended beyond the end of June and confirmation that it would permit transfer windows to be put back beyond the end of August and inserted into the gap between this season and its delayed successor.

“Swallows will need to engage South Africa’s GladAfrica Championship side Mbombela United if they wish to keep ‘Nkomishi’ as they loaned him from them. Sandile on the other side is expecting to negotiate new terms with the red and white glamour side,” said a source.

Drawn for comment on the matter, Swallows’ Marketing and Communications Manager Mancoba Mabuza said there were numerous lies and baseless rumours circulating about Mbabane Swallows, including the subject matter.

“We have accordingly taken a firm decision not to give reactive response(s) to media or anyone and wait for a proper statement that will be released in the coming week, just to put everything into proper perspective,” said Mabuza.

According to his player’s profile, the former Malanti Chiefs striker had been with the capital giants since 2014 while ‘Nkomishi’ had been loaned out by Mbombela for six months.
