MBABANE – Tambuti head coach Terisayi Changara in not new to Eswatini football.

He is among the great legends, who formed part of the unstoppable XI Men in Flight side – the class of 1995.
The former Moneni Pirates mentor joined the greats of legendary Sipho ‘Shisagesi’Mdluli, Bright ‘Maradona’ Zondo, Celumusa ‘Sister Monica’ Vilakati and Raymond ‘Malume Bheseni’ Dlamini among others.

Changara’s team was led by the experienced late Zambia-born coach Ben Bamfuchile and was assisted by David Mandingora and Peter Nyama.

This is the team that made the first appearance to the first-tier Africa inter-club competition, the CAF Champions league in 1995. They were defeated by the eventual CAF Champions League champions, South Africa’s football royalty, Orlando Pirates Football Club.

This class of players further inspired the Siteki-based outfit to three other CAF appearances from 1996 to 1997.
This is after they were crowned champions of the elite league two times in 1994 and 1996 which was sponsored by the then Swaziland Breweries under the banner of the Castle Lager brand.

Drawn for comment, Changara sung non-stop praises for the 1995 team and said there was no team it could be matched with these days.

“There is none that is like that team in nowadays, if that team played during this era, we could have achieved so much,” he said.
Changara added that the strong point of the team was its professionalism in the manner in which it was run and said if they played having been exposed to current opportunities in football, they would achieve much more.
