MBABANE – Eswatini internationals in brothers Colani ‘Papi’ and Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze have taken advantage of the lockdown to train together.

‘Papi’ plays for the Mozambican Football Championship’s Desportivo de Maputo, while his younger brother ‘Pupu’ plays for South Africa’s second-tier side Mbombela United.

In a video clip shared by ‘Papi’, the brothers are seen going through their paces in an open field, sweating out as they exercise together and keeping the required social distance.

According to the gifted player, the Mozambique elite league had been put on hold and teams given an extension after the initially imposed month break due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.
“The league has been stopped for a month here due to the threat of the coronavirus,” said the player.

Papi added that he is sticking to government’s recommendations for safety measures by staying indoors.
“Yes, I am always indoors,” he said.

This is after the player had been asked on the prevention measures he was taking personally as per the government safety measures recommendations.

According to ILO, since the spread of COVID-19, they and their partners are exploring different ways of organising trainings.
Trainers decided to innovate and experiment in order to stay within their training plans. They transformed the face-to-face training into an online one. Trainer Ehab was the first to experiment. He invited eight participants to take part in the first training in a teleconferencing format.

They were colleagues from different branches from his organisation Al Tadamun, a leading MFI in Egypt. It was launched on April 5 and lasted six days for five hours per day.

The training adopted different tools including active sessions and exercises based on the financial education trainer’s manual.
However, the challenge was to maintain a high level of interactivity and organise the group work.
