MBABANE – She is a fitness guru and has taken robust action in the fight against the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus).
That is Zonke Tembe, who strictly follows the government and World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines on prevention measures against the spread of the pandemic.

The Fitness Zone Gym member has been in isolation since government implemented the ongoing partial lockdown but acknowledges it is imperative for the nation to embrace home training to keep fit and healthy despite the fact that most gyms and training centres are temporarily closed.

Tembe has encouraged emaSwati to look at the coronavirus with a positive attitude and instead of focusing on its negative effects, focus on opportunities it could present.

“I will encourage people not to look at the pandemic as a constraint but consider the fact that it presents people with the opportunity to strive for a body they have always dreamt of,” she said.
The fitness fundi also highlighted that people can use social media and follow how home and individual training could be best practised.

Confinement

She added that home confinement presented families with the opportunity to exercise together at the comfort of their homes and motivate one another.
Asked on her take on the COVID-19 pandemic, Tembe acknowledged it may be challenging to stay at home but emphasised it was for the greater good in order to contain the spread of the virus.

“We know and understand it’s difficult to stay at home considering the threat the pandemic poses for some to provide for their families.

“However, I will encourage people to follow the government and health experts’ safety measures,” she said.
Tembe said people must stay home to also spare law enforcers the burden of having to deal with people who cannot provide appropriate information on where they were going.

“Correctly follow the guidelines provided by authorities, wear your masks properly, carry your sanitisers everywhere you go and do not forget to always sanitise upon returning home before you can handle any essentials,” warned the fitness guru.

In addition, Tembe encouraged people to immediately visit health centres should they develop any COVID-19 symptoms in order to get help as soon as possible and prevent further spread of the virus.
