NEIL MAKES 146 OUT OF 146 PARKRUNS

MBABANE – For Neill Robinson, it is not about competing but the emphasis is on consistency.


Robinson yesterday completed his 146 parkrun during the 146th edition of the Mbabane parkrun which started and finished at Mbabane Club. This makes him the runner with the most parkruns since the weekly 5km parkrun was established in May 6, 2017.


Robinson completed 67 parkruns in the Mbabane parkrun while the other 79 parkruns were done in South Africa.
He has managed to run the parkrun in 46 cities in South Africa which include Durban, Johannesburg, Mpumalanga, Free State,Kwazulu Natal and Durban to mention but a few.


The KPMG Audit Manager (51 years of age) who is based in Durban but works at a Mbabane audit company has volunteered 22 times in the weekly race.
Yesterday, Robinson managed to finished the parkrun in 55:19 minutes and his personal best time stands at 33:05 minutes.

“I enjoy running in the parkrun. I get to meet new people and make friends while it also helps me in distressing. I have also being volunteering at the parkrun as a way to give back to the community,” Robinson said.


Asked on what kept him not missing parkrun like every Saturday, he said; “It is all about consistency than competing. Of course I have those targets where I need to improve the time. It is very fulfilling to achieve that target I set myself,” he said.


When asked to give advice to runners who want to be like him, he pointed out that runners can only set realistic goals.
“Firstly start by making sure that you attend the parkrun before trying to set goals on what you want to achieve. It is possible to attend every parkrun if you have goals either fitness or time,” he said.


Meanwhile the winner of parkrun was UEDF’s Nkululeko Gama with a time of 15:58 minutes while in the ladies category was Nobuhle Bhembe on 23:48 minutes.
