EZULWINI – MTN Eswatini has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting basketball in the country.

This was said by MTN Acting CEO Sibusiso Nhleko during the Eswatini National Basketball League (ENBL) prize presentation, which was held last Thursday at the mobile company’s headquarters in Ezulwini.

“We are here to celebrate excellence. We are delighted that since our partnership with ENBL the league has been very competitive. It is interesting to note that the teams that have won the league have proven to be resilient such that they have managed to win the league back to back in the Elite Men’s League and National Women League,” Nhleko said.

He also commended BASE and ENBL for ensuring their product’s visibility during the league games.

“We have received massive support from the basketball fraternity and we are pleased to reaffirm our commitment to basketball. We also want to thank ENBL for ensuring that there are more ladies who participate in the sport as they have a women’s league,” he added.
Meanwhile, Basketball Association of Eswatini’s (BASE) Nhlanhla Maphanga said MTN was the heart of basketball in the country.

“We want to thank the sponsor for the continued support. For the past three years, we have witnessed the growth of the sport both at schools and at league level. We also want to thank academies who have those camps throughout the year which have positive spin-offs in the developments of the sport,” Maphanga said.

He went on to condemn unruly behaviour which he said derailed the progress of the sport.
