MBABANE – The wait for the first official cycling race of the new decade is over.

All roads lead to Phocweni in Matsapha for an individual time trial, which will be held on Sunday. An individual time trial (ITT) is a road bicycle race in which cyclists race alone against the clock. Action will get underway at 7am,with registration 30 minutes earlier on the day of the festivities.
The events will be 38 and 18km long.

Eswatini Cycling Association Assistant Secretary Morgan Rudd said they were expecting between 50 and 70 cyclists in their first event of 2020.
Admission in the main event costs E150. Those competing in the shorter race will fork out E100.

Pay

Unlicensed cyclists will pay an extra E40 for a one-day licence.
Unstoppable Muzi Shabangu, on the other hand, needed to be at his best to shake off phenomenal youngster Sihle Dlamini in the main 38km event in the past year. Shabangu clocked 01:03:05 hours to slash the past year’s record by 16 seconds.

Winning in the short event was Thembinkosi Khumalo in 00:38:28 minutes.
The race was staged along the Phocweni-Masundvwini Road and it involved two laps from the starting point.
