‘BULL’ GUILTY, FINED 25K

MBABANE - Mbabane Highlanders are guilty as charged. This follows a disciplinary hearing which took place at Sigwaca House last night. The Eswatini Football Association Disciplinary Committee was headed by Chairman Thulani Sibandze while Desmond Manda was the prosecutor.

Highlanders were represented by an official from the director’s office Benson Dlamini while also present were Secretary Simiso Jele, and the Radio PRO Paul ‘Magidza’ Masilela.

The ‘Black Bull’ had been slapped with three counts following that their fans or marshals were engaged in violent misconduct, which saw them fighting with marshals from Tambuti. Another offence which they were facing was that their fans, or marshals interrupted the game between Highlanders and Tambuti by fighting in the field of play.

Invaded

They were also charged with failure to control their fans who invaded the Mayaluka Stadium during a Premier League game on December 8, 2019 where Highlanders played to a 1-all draw.

They were found guilty of the first two charges, which carried a fine of E45 000. The first count carries a fine of E25 000, while the second count comes with a fine of E20 000. The second count was suspended for six months but if Highlanders are found guilty of the same offence, the suspended sentence will be reinstated. 

Highlanders had pleaded guilty to the two counts. On count three, they escaped on grounds that the field had no fencing. Reached for comment after the matter, Highlanders official Benson Dlamini confirmed that they pleaded to the two charges. “We were found guilty of the two offences and were fined E25 000 and E20 000 was suspended. On the third offence we pleaded not guilty because it was close to impossible to control fans in an open ground,” said Dlamini.
