MBABANE – It is official – Manzini Wanderers have filed an appeal in the landmark case involving enterprising youngster Leon Manyisa.

The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Protest and Disciplinary Committee found the maroon and white outfit guilty of fielding the 18-year-old in the 1-0 win over Malanti Chiefs in a league fixture on November 2,2019. They forfeited three points and the same number of goals to the opposition following the guilty verdict.

It has been reliably gathered that Wanderers have since paid the non-refundable E5 000 fee to appeal the verdict. Article 10.12 of the MTN Premier League Rules and Regulations allows teams the right to appeal if they are not satisfied with the ruling of the DC.
“Any club that is not satisfied with the decision of the DC shall have the right to appeal.

“An appeal shall be made to the EFA Appeals Board within five working days after receipt of the written verdict of the DC; otherwise it shall be null and void. A non-refundable fee amounting to E 5 000 must accompany the appeal,” reads Article 10.12 in part.
Wanderers CEO Sandile ‘Ntofo’ Dlamini confirmed the appeal yesterday.

Meanwhile, Wanderers had fielded the player on his return from a botched deal in Armenia on grounds that he had not been cleared him to any team.
Their decision was ruled offside by the DC that further froze the player pending a clearance from Armenia outfit FC Van.
