MBABANE – A landmark partnership between Professional Soccer Management (PSM) and Eswatini Football Association (EFA) could see Sihlangu players securing deals in Europe.

PSM is a global marketing firm under Nigeria-born Emmanuel Emenogu and it has offices in South Africa, Nigeria, Australia and the United Kingdom. Even though finer details of the partnership are expected to be released in a press conference today, Emenogu has confirmed coming on board, saying the ultimate goal is having quality players for Sihlangu.

“We’re coming with a different story. We believe for Sihlangu to compete, they need to have players in competitive leagues in Europe. These are not just any teams in Europe.

“We’re in the business of football and we are partnering with both the EFA and the league. The league is where national team players are recruited. We won’t take every player to Europe, as others have to be behind to keep the league competitive,” he said.

PSM reportedly has connections with some European clubs such as Empoli (Italy) and Galatasaray (Turkey). The agency is also facilitating Highlanders’ youngster Sisekelo ‘Rio’ Matsenjwa’s move to Europe. The latter is destined to Turkish top-tier football side Alanyaspor and he is expected to leave for assessment at the end of January 2020.

Malawi newspaper styled Nation in June reported that the same firm was arranging European deals for three players in that country.
botched
Currently, there are no Eswatini players playing in major leagues in Europe. In September, Manzini Wanderers’ Leon Manyisa had left for little known FC Van in Amernia but returned about two months later after a botched deal. A month later, three other local players in Denver Sundowns goalkeeper Lwethu Simelane as well as Vovovo’s Mxolisi Tsabedze and Wandile Dlamini left for Slovakia.
Meanwhile, EFA Marketing and Communications Manager Muzi Radebe’s phone rang unanswered when sought for comment. The last attempt was made at 5:24pm.
