MKHWANAZI WINS BIG

MBABANE – Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) golfer Siboniso Mkhwanazi was at his best this weekend.


This is after he won both the best gross and net in the Eswatini Royal Insurance Corporation (ESRIC) Monthly Mug for the December edition.
Mkhwanazi carded an impressive gross and net score of 66 and 69, respectively. The net score is a player’s gross minus his strokes.


The REPS golfer managed to beat over 40 golfers who participated in the competition which was played in medal format at the Mbabane Golf Club.
Mkhwanazi also walked away with the prize for the nearest pin/18 in the novelties category. Also shining in this category was ESRIC’s Thabiso Gama who won the nearest pin 8/17 and the longest drive award. Welcome Mhlanga also took home the award for the nearest pin 2/11 award with Phumi Zwane winning the best lady golfer award.


The results were released by the Mbabane Golf Club captain Kenneth Nkambule yesterday.
“Siboniso Mkhwanazi was the winner of the ESRIC December Mug on an excellent net of 64 strokes. He also won the gross mug on 66 gross having played six shorts under par. He beat a strong field of 40 golfers that included professional golfer Peter Dlamini and the club’s export MJ Dlamini,” Nkambule explained. Nkambule also said 14-year-old golfer Siphesihle Mhlanga continued to shine as he was the runner-up on net 67.


“Genius Sihlongonyane was on the podium for the first time this year with a decent net of 69.We want to thank the sponsor for their continued support and the golfers for supporting this very big competition,” he said.
 He also thanked the green keeping staff for the beautiful outlook of the golf course.
