ESWATINI RULES COSATA CHAMPS
MBABANE – The country’s artists reigned supreme during the Confederations of Southern Africa Taekwondo Association (COSATA) Championships held at Mavuso Sports Centre.
Competing against artists coming from four countries being Mozambique, Lesotho, Zimbabwe and Botswana, they won eight gold, five silver and nine bronze medals, winning on overall of 73 points.
Coming second was Mozambique, who took home seven gold and three silver medals while Lesotho was third with three gold, five silver and one bronze.
The eighth edition of the championships was held in the country by the Eswatini Taekwondo Federation (ETF) with the assistance of the World Taekwondo, who presented the scoring equipment worth about E200 000.
Recreation
Other major partners were the Eswatini Sport Recreation Council (ERSC) and the Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA).
Taekwondo is one of the sports that have dominated the Southern Africa region, finishing third in the recent Botswana President Cup and also brining a number of gold medals from the Tuks Championships in Pretoria, South Africa.
The championships were supported by the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga who celebrated his birthday with the artists, ESRC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Darius Dlomo, and Zama Tsabedze.
