MANZINI – Manzini Wanderers supporters can now deposit funds to help the team.

This, after the hub giants launched their MTN Mobile Money account for supporters to deposit funds to help run the team. Yesterday, the team held a press conference at their Manzini office where the official launch took place. Present during the function were the team Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sandile ‘Ntofo’ Dlamini, Treasurer Girly Johnson, National Supporters Committee (NSC) Chairman Mduduzi ‘Mr G’ Ginindza, Sizwe ‘Motaung’ Shongwe and MTN Mobile Money Business Coordinator Sakhile Vilakati. “Today (yesterday) we came to officially launch our Mobile Money number for the team. This is where supporters can deposit money after a request from the supporters to make contributions like many other teams of the world,” said the CEO. Dlamini said the NSC led by ‘Mr G’ approached MTN about the idea and it had materialised. Apart from the Mobile Money account, the club also revealed a bank account it held with FNB where supporters can also deposit funds.

Supporters

“There are many supporters of the team, others outside Eswatini such as in South Africa who would also like to make contributions,” he said. The team also disclosed mobile phone numbers which supporters can use to deposit funds through the cellphone banking service. The CEO added that they requested supporters to furnish the NSC chairman with receipts as proof of payment for him to compile monthly reports as they wanted transparency for this exercise. He disputed reports that the team had financial challenges and said this was an exercise that they had long planned for to assist run the club. Dlamini said there was high demand from the supporters who wanted to be involved in running the team financially, which is why they decided to do this. Meanwhile, the CEO said they were working around the clock to have replicas made available to supporters as soon as possible. He said the delay was as a result of shipping the fabric from overseas.

Urged

He also urged supporters to support the team when they play against Tinyosi in the Ingwenyama Cup this weekend. He said it would not be an easy game as they made a 1-0 narrow escape the last time they met in this tournament. He also urged branches to make transport available for the supporters.
