MBABANE – Sihlangu will get a bit of reprieve. This is after Guinea-Bissau head coach Baciro Candé announced to local media that his top striker Romário Baldé, who plays for Gil Vicente in Portugal has been injured and he would not count on him against Sihlangu.

Guinea-Bissau Portuguese Newspaper, The Democrat, reported yesterday that the Guinea-Bissau tactician, Cande, expressed today (Monday) that he was confident in obtaining a positive result when they welcomed Kostadin Papic’s troops, which marked the first day of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying phase.

Statements

According to the publication, in statements  sent to Lusa News Agency, Baciro Candé said that the ‘expectations’ were ‘good’ and that the goal was to win the game of Wednesday (today) against Eswatini, for which he called 11 players who line up in Portuguese clubs .
The trusted coach, who summoned 22 players, revealed that he could not count on Romário Baldé, as he had to recover from an injury, reported The Democrat.

This means that the Guinea-Bissauan will rely on Mama Baldé, who plays for FC Dijon in France, Djassi Picket playing at Ismailia in Egypt, Jorge Intima for Ludogorets 1945 in Bulgaria, João Mário Fernandes with Ac. Viseu in Portugal, Toni Brito Silva who plays for FC Astra Giurgiu in Romania and Joseph Mendes who is with Ajaccio in France for his striking force.

The publication also reported that the Candé-led technical team started selecting the team on Monday at Estádio 24 de Setembro, in Bissau, as there was only part of the team, and the other players only reported on Monday to the capital of Guinea-Bissau after having played on Sunday in the respective teams.

Clash

After the Guinea-Bissau test, Eswatini national football outfit will return home for Sunday’s eagerly-awaited clash against Sadio Mane-inspired Senegal at Mavuso Sports Centre on Sunday, starting at 3pm. Congo Brazzaville is also in the same group as Sihlangu and the top two, after the qualifying phase in November 2020 will get tickets to the AFCON finals to be staged in Cameroon.
