MBABANE –About four months into their reunion, left-back Sanele Mkhweli and Manzini Wanderers have reportedly parted ways.

The two parties, according to impeccable sources, allegedly parted ways last Friday – about four months into the one-year deal. The player reunited with Wanderers in July after a stint with South Africa’s football second-tier side TS Sporting, who are based in Mpumalanga. Earlier reports had suggested that the player resigned, but the player came out to dispute the resignation allegations, insisting that it was a mutual agreement.  It could not be immediately ascertained why the partnership had to end abruptly. Wanderers CEO Sandile ‘Ntofo’ Dlamini said he needed to check his office today to see if there was a correspondence regarding the reports.

“I have to check the office tomorrow but if there is a resignation letter, then I will take it from there,” he said. Wanderers Chairman Bongani ‘Bhanyaza’ Mdluli politely referred comments to Sabelo Nxumalo, who handled the issue of the player, when sought for comment. The latter’s phone was unreachable and the last attempt was made at 7:34pm.

Mutual

The player confirmed parting ways with the side on mutual agreement, but did not come out clear on what prompted the move. He could not disclose his next destination. “We amicably parted ways,” was all he could say. The 27-year-old rejoined Wanderers in July. He was from TS Sporting, where he spent only one season there. The former Sihlangu defender had spent about five years at Mbabane Swallows before the move to South Africa. He had joined Swallows from Wanderers in 2013. His first appearance for the maroon and white outfit after the reunion was during the EswatiniTelecom Charity Cup on August 11, 2019. He featured regularly this season in league fixtures.

Meanwhile, the latest developments come in the wake of challenges faced by the maroon and white outfit in the past week. Salaries were delayed and eventually halved. The team also got E100 000 aid from the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE). A meeting had been convened in the past Saturday at Manzini Library, where Mdluli told supporters that each institution had its challenges and Wanderers were no exception.
