MBABANE – With no domestic elite football action this weekend, the next best thing for Manzini Wanderers is to put their house in order.

This is amid claims of a faction of the team’s fans or supporters allegedly trying to downplay the meeting and influence others not to attend. The meeting is strictly an elective one for the club’s new National Supporters Committee (NSC) structure. It is billed for the Zakhele Community Hall tomorrow at 3pm.

“It’s not even people from the past NSC but a small fraction of our people who are trying to cause disturbance as we go to the polls on Saturday. It has reached the club’s management that there is a group going against the elective meeting,” confirmed a source close to the matter.

The club’s PRO Sandile ‘Ntofo’ Dlamini was also called to reassure their supporters about the meeting given the latest developments. However, he preferred to say the meeting was on and the team’s Chairman Bongani ‘Bhanyaza’ Mdluli was ready to make a statement. “He’s the person to call right now,” he said.
Mdluli was then sought.

“Our meeting is going ahead on Saturday in compliance with the team’s constitution to have the National Supporters Structure (NSC). It will help us know our supporters so we can even know if it’s our people in case the club is said to have committed any offence.

“The meeting will go ahead as planned at Zakhele Community Hall as of 3pm. I’m not aware of any negative talk but whatever, the meeting is on and we will elect our NSC. Also, this is strictly an elective meeting, no other issue will be discussed,” he said.

He encouraged their supporters to come in their numbers for to elect a structure they were all going to be happy with. Interestingly, Mdluli later called back to acknowledge that there ‘were many factions in the club’.

“There are many factions in the club and one of my roles from when I took this position is to unite Manzini Wanderers,” he said.
Mdluli said supporters were going to have a chance to discuss other issues they deemed important but under the NSC executive to be elected tomorrow. He emphasised it was through this structure that supporters will voice their concerns.
