BIG BEND – Tambuti scored in each half to claim maximum points here yesterday.

It was former Manzini Wanderers striker Ugochukwe Ohakwe and Mthokozisi Dlamini, who were on target for the home side while ‘player of the moment’ Allen Mabuza netted the consolation goal for the visiting side. This can be termed as a bright start into the new season for Tambuti after they recorded another win following their 1-0 victory over defending champions Green Mamba in their previous outing. For Black Swallows, it was a bitter pill to swallow following Friday Lukhele’s howler in the second half after Allen Mabuza had restored parity.

lodged a protest

The game was played under a protest as the home side lodged a protest citing that Allen Mabuza was not supposed to play as his case was still pending or ongoing. Vice-captain Muntu Mamba confirmed that they had lodged a protest. On Friday, the High Court had ruled that a new Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Status Committee be set up to look into his issue. He had featured for Black Swallows before he was suspended. Time will tell if Tambuti will confirm the protest on Monday following the win. The Terisayi Changara-led side had a bright start following a number of shots on target in the opening stages. Former Green Mamba midfielder Mcebo Mdluli‘s close shot was saved by Swallows goalkeeper Friday Lukhele in the fourth minute. It was after returnee Ohakwe delivered a defence splitting pass.

Ohakwe finally broke the deadlock in 27th minute through a powerful shot at the edge of the box beating Lukhele hands down between the sticks. However, Allen Mabuza levelled matters for Black Swallows in the 36th minutes through a ground shot that beat Tambuti goalkeeper Thubelihle Dlamini. Lihle Shabangu from Black Swallows had to give way for Mxolisi Dlamini while Jobathan Baofo also had to make way for Fakazi Dlamini in the second half. It was clear they wanted to score instead they conceded when they least expected it.
Tambuti’s Mthokozisi Dlamini scored from 40 yards out on the left flank to catch Black Swallows goalkeeper Lukhele off guard in the 65th minute.
