WORK HARD, MAKE IT HAPPEN

MBABANE – “The price of success is dedication, hard work, and an unremitting devotion to the things you want to see happen”.

Frank Lloyd Write, an American architect, interior designer, writer, and educator, who designed more than 1 000 structures, 532 of which were completed, accredited success to hard work.

The legendary world icon believed in designing structures that were in harmony with humanity and its environment, a philosophy he called organic architecture. Despite the failure of some of his projects, he persisted and applied himself to achieving even more in his life time.

In today’s Transformation corner, we are celebrating one of Eswatini’s bodybuilders, Sifiso Mkhabela, who like Write applied himself relentlessly in pursuit of the ‘perfect body’. Despite the challenges he encountered in his journey, he did not despair but persisted in achieving his goals. The enthusiastic athlete led us through his physical transformation journey hoping to motivate others to follow suit. This is how he did it.

When did you start bodybuilding?

“I started bodybuilding in the year 2016. Back then, I just wanted to look more musculine, strong and feel good about my appearance. With time, it became more than just a sport but a lifestyle and that was when I decided to push myself even further to see how much I could achieve. The results were quite impressive. I must admit that it was quite challenging”.

What was your previous weight?

“I have gone from 68kg to 84kg. My body has transformed remarkably and I am proud of the results”.
Bodybuilding is a very demanding sport. What kind of challenges have you encountered and how do you overcome them?
“Knowledge is power and that is one thing that I have learnt in my bodybuilding journey. At first I used to go to the gym, pump weights and do all the intense workouts.

Because I lacked the knowledge and proper guidance, I ended up incurring muscle injuries. Learning more about bodybuilding helped me a lot and equipped me with the knowledge of how to avoid injuries while working towards my goals. I love bodybuilding and that is why I pushed myself through recovery up to today”.

Can you give us a picture of your training routine?
“I exercise for five days per week and spend about two hours in each session.  On Mondays I work on my legs and on Tuesdays its a chest and biceps sessions. On Wednesdays I focus on the shoulders and triceps then I do back muscle exercises on Thursdays. Fridays are dedicated to triceps and biceps. This means that in one week I complete a full body workout”.

What are your fitness and weight goals?

“I want to stay strong, healthy and fit. You know what they say: ‘bigger is always better’. As a trainer, I make it a point that I am ready to tackle any challenge”.
How best can you describe a bodybuilders’ diet?

“It is mainly a high protein, low fat and fairly balanced meal. A bodybuilder’s diet depends on his programme”.
What advice can you give out to people who wish to transform their bodies, either to lose weight or build muscles?
“First come to the gym, eat healthy and good food. Train hard to get results. Training should be a lifetime commitment and bear in mind that results do not happen overnight”.
