MBABANE - Green Mamba might have crashed out of the Total CAF Champions League but they are still full of praise for all the stakeholders who supported them in their short-lived journey.

This was said by the team Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Tami Phakathi, yesterday.
“Playing in the CAF requires a lot. You can organise and successfully host a game. A lot of things come into play, both when you are hosting and playing away. In this instance, I want to thank Green Mamba’s Management Committee (MC) for ensuring that the trip to Zambia was a success,” Phakathi said.
He also said the MC played a pivotal role in helping local supporters attend the game in Ndola, Zambia where the Caleb Ngwenya-led-charges lost 1-0 and 3-0 on aggregate.

motivated

“It was encouraging to see local supporters on the stands. They did not go there to add numbers but sang and motivated the team. We felt honoured by the local supporters who made it. As the MC we would strive to assist our fans whenever we are playing both locally and away. The support should continue even in domestic league games,” he added.

He further applauded the government of Zambia and police service and correctional officers for meeting the team halfway in as far as accommodation and meals were concerned, especially for the fans.

Meanwhile, the organiser of the fans who travelled to Zambia, Sibusiso Mabuza said they were happy to accompany the team to Zambia.

“Despite that we did not play well, we matched the Zambians pound for pound. It was quite an amazing experience travelling to Zambia and seeing the team perform. We are positive they will do well in the next CAF tournament,” Mabuza said.
He further said they were happy to receive accolades from the MC.
challenge
“This will be challenge for us to ensure the team attracts more fans into stadiums. The team will be playing in the domestic league, we appeal for that support,” he said.
Green Mamba lost 2-0 at Mavuso Sports Centre to Zesco United and 1-0 away at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Focus will now turn to the league as they faced Denver Sundowns at Somhlolo National Stadium last night.
