MBABANE – Relegated Mbabane Citizens mean business on and off the field. Just after announcing their new Zambian coach Happy Simfukwe and three new signings, the former Premier League side, who were relegated in the past season, have just made another big announcement;   new wheels in the form of a Quantum which is worth E280 000.

This was revealed by the team’s PRO Thabiso ‘Touch’ Manyatsi yesterday.
“As a team we would really like to thank the Chairman for providing for the team. He is a visionary man and you can see by the way he is doing things. Yesterday he unveiled the team Quantum which will be used by the players during games this season. Now it’s upon the players and MC to prove themselves by taking the team to greater heights,” he said. He further said there was a lot being planned at ‘Ezinkulu’, as the team is affectionately known in the soccer circles.

rebranding the team

“We are rebranding the team and there are a lot of positive changes that are going to be made. We have a mandate to ensure that the team returns to the elite league and we are happy with the support of the MC, technical bench and supporters,” he said.

He also said they would play friendly games this afternoon against Shiselweni Super League teams in preparation for the new season which kicks off next week.

Meanwhile, it is a story of cycling meeting soccer, as new PRO Manyatsi is attached to Dig Deep Club.
Citizens Chairman Mandla Simelane confirmed bringing Manyatsi on board.

“We feel he is the right man to market and promote the brand. He is a good promoter and he follows not only local football, but soccer news around the world. We are looking forward to working with him and grow the team’s brand,” Simelane said.
Manyatsi said he was honoured to be the team’s PRO.

“Firstly, I’d like to appreciate the opportunity that was presented to me in representing this fast growing brand. I’d also like to thank the chairman for giving me a chance to be part of the team,” Manyatsi said.
He further said he was looking forward to promoting and marketing the team brand.

bounce back

“We might have been relegated but we will bounce back next season in the Premier League. We mean business and I think you are aware that we have a new coach on board and new players. We want to ensure that next year we are promoted to the elite league,” he said.

Manyatsi was part of the organising team that hosted the first edition of the East-West Road Cycle Race which was staged at Buhleni recently.

Asked if he would relinquish his position in the cycling club, he said: “Look man, I like cycling and football. So to answer your question, I will not leave my post at Dig Deep. I will try to balance up things. I think you are aware that cycling is not every weekend,” he said. Manyatsi was announced alongside the new Management Committee members who include Xolani ‘Space’ Mkhonta, who is the new team manager. Machawe Fakudze is the team secretary while Phindile Fakudze is the welfare manager.
