MBABANE – The Swaziland Building Society (SBS) has reaffirmed their christening of the National Tennis Centre.

The Eswatini National Tennis Association (ENTA), through its President Maxwell Jele, disclosed that after their long partnership with the financial institution where they enjoyed tremendous support, they decided to name the courts after it. This was during the official opening of the courts.

Before announcing the official name of the tennis courts, Jele said tennis had now officially become an adopted child of SBS.
“It is with joy for me to inform you that this relationship is continuing once again. I will leave the details for Mr. Nhleko, the MD, to elaborate further, however, in a nutshell; we have reached an agreement for the society to acquire naming rights to the centre. In this regard, it is my pleasure to announce that this facility shall be called the ‘SBS National Tennis Centre – OlympAfrica.’

“This further partnership will ensure that the facility will never be a white elephant as we have undertaken the recruitment of a centre coordinator, who will oversee the full rollout of activities at the centre,” said Jele during the event.

Now that the financial institution has assumed the rights of having the tennis courts named after it, they have inserted a board with its traditional colours and logo. At the far end of the board, there is also the logo of ENTA.

Present delegates during the official opening included Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga, Eswatini Sport and Recreational Council (ESRC) Chairman Lawrence ‘Lolo’ Mthethwa, CEO Darius Dhlomo, International Tennis Federation (ITF) Regional Development Officer Tapiwa Masunga, Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) CEO Sidney Simelane and the SBS Managing Director Timothy Nhleko among others.

Meanwhile, 22 coaches were awarded certificates after taking part in the eight-day ITF/SO Play Tennis and Pre-level 1 Coaching Course.
