‘GIVE US HIGH QUALITY FOOTBALL’

MBABANE – Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga has urged teams to display high quality football on Sunday.

The minister was speaking during the EswatiniTelecom Charity Cup kit presentation yesterday.  Mbabane Highlanders, Mbabane Swallows, Manzini Wanderers and Royal Leopard, who will feature in the ‘Super Sunday’, got their jerseys at the Eswatini Post and Telecommunication Corporation (EPTC) head office in Mbabane yesterday.

“This is one tournament which attracts a big crowd. We therefore urge teams to give us the best of local football. We also appeal for good behaviour as we understand there will be visitors from beyond our borders,” Bulunga said.
The minister also lauded EPTC for sponsoring the tournament for the 18th time.

“This proves how committed EPTC is in making the lives of emaSwati better. We are appreciative as government as it eases government’s burden somehow. The tournament also aids good performance of the national team as some of the players here are selected for the senior team,” he said.
Meanwhile, EPTC Managing Director Petros Dlamini also shared similar sentiments.

“Give us more goals and entertaining football. We are sponsoring this tournament because we want to see football develop in the country,” Dlamini said.
He also went on to laud the national teams for getting positive results against Angola.

“It is pleasing to note that our national teams did well in beating Angola. We learnt that Sitsebe beat Angola and Sihlangu also won away against the same country. This is motivating us as sponsors and this is the very reason we will continue supporting local football because it has positive spin-offs not only on charity but also on the national team,” he said.

Meanwhile, in Sunday’s games, Leopard face Highlanders in the first semi-final at 8:30am before another crackerjack fixture between Wanderers and Swallows two hours later.
