MBABANE – Local teams with the hope of signing Vovovo’s Leon Manyisa may as well forget.

The 18-year old leaves the country on Sunday, July 28, 2019 for trials with a team in the Republic of Armenia. Armenia is a country in the South Caucasus region of Eurasia. Located in Western Asia on the Armenian Highlands, it is bordered by Turkey to the west, Georgia to the north, the Republic of Artsakh and Azerbaijan’s exclave of Nakhchivan to the south.
In actual fact, the player will not just be flying to Armenia but will proceed to Malaysia and Spain for trials with different teams as previously reported by this publication. Vovovo Director Sipho ‘Tsetla’ Bhembe confirmed the departure of the skilful youngster when sought for comment yesterday.

“It is true that on July 28, 2019 Leon will be leaving for Armenia. The date has been confirmed and we have already bought his airplane ticket,” said the director. Bhembe also disclosed that despite media reports linking the player with local teams, he (Leon) was due to leave for oversees. “He was supposed to leave on July 10, 2019 but there were challenges in getting him a visa to allow him to travel abroad,” he said. According to Bhembe, the difficulty in acquiring a visa for the gifted young player delayed his departure but was now sorted. “What made it a bit difficult was the fact that the visa for this trip is only obtained from Egypt and Dubia. However, all is sorted now and we are waiting for them to send it,” said Bhembe.

Meanwhile, the director said he could not say for sure as for how long Manyisa would be doing trials with the teams from overseas but indicated that the young footballer will be away for a prolonged period. Manyisa could not be drawn for comment as his mobile phone was switched off when called yesterday. However, in a previous interview, he said he was ready for the world and pointed out that he believed that he could play anywhere, especially if given enough game-time.

Manyisa featured for Manzini Wanderers as a guest player during this year’s Bible Society Cup and he deservedly scooped Man of the Matche awards during games against Moneni Pirates and Manzini Sundowns. The maroon and white outfit had not made it a secret that they wished to sign him before the beginning of the 2019/20 season. Other teams that also pursued Manyisa are Mbabane Highlanders, who recently tabled a E30 000 signing-on fee offer, Mbabane Swallows and Royal Leopard.
